Alchemical Quadriptych
The Great Work
The Magnum Opus cannot be captured in a single image. It must be walked through — stage by stage. These four original watercolors by Debbi trace the complete alchemical journey: from the dissolution of base matter to the perfection of the Philosopher's Stone.
The Four Stages
Nigredo — The Blackening
A deep purple tulip blooms beside the word NIGREDO. This is the first stage: dissolution, putrefaction, and the necessary death of the unreformed self. Nothing can be built until the base matter yields.
Albedo — The Whitening
A white lily rises on a pale field, enclosed within the alchemical triangle (△) and crescent moon. What survived the Nigredo — purified, distilled, lunar — emerges here. The moon's silver, not yet the sun's gold.
Citrinitas — The Yellowing
A radiant sunflower in warm gold and orange, crowned by the Greek theta (θ) and caduceus, with fresh green at its base. The solar stage: the dawning of wisdom, the first light that heralds the Work's completion.
Rubedo — The Reddening
A rich crimson rose unfurls beside the word RUBEDO, enclosed within the alchemical circle (○). The final stage — the union of opposites, the Philosopher's Stone achieved. What began in darkness ends in sovereign red.
